the birthday gift

It seems like forever since i made a card for a Challenge other than at Ooh-la-la Creations blog.
I have been selling cards at our Saturday craft market but have discovered that the demand here is for a very simple card and that girly or animal images are considered 'childrens "cards so i have been making specifically for the market and the cards have just not fitted any of the challenge criteria .

However an early birthday present from my sister in Amsterdam inspired me to make  a card for fun .
The lovely gift  caused me some grief as customs wanted to charge me R800 for it even though it was clearly marked gift.....can you imagine standing in the GPO and your birthday gift is in front of you and you cant have it unless you pay for it !?

Well a letter of appeal and a 4 week delay and I had it still in time for my birthday ....which in case anyone is still reading is on the 15 th of NOVEMBER .
I am entering it in the colour splash at the Playdate cafe -black , white and a splash of orange as well as :
Make it Monday 62 -Anything goes
Allsorts Challenge blog -black and white plus one
              Crafty Ann's Challenge 53 -Floral Frenzy .
All of these blogs are well worth a visit for ideas and inspiration.
So let me know what you think of my card wont you?

  3. Wendy a lovely card. The colours are so striking. I agre it is criminal when they want to charge for gifts. I find it happens mainly towards the end of the year. I will be in the Netherlands for Christmas this year....lucky me..my grandchildren are promising enough snow to keep us their for months...LOL. have a great weekend. Thanks for poppin by and your lovely comments.

  11. Customs sounds like a real hell! Can't believe you had to pay for picking up your birthday gift. And Happy Birthday, a little early!

Sounds like you are getting to know your craft fair market clientele pretty well, and I don't blame you for tailoring to it. I am attempting to do the same. ;)

Thanks for visiting my blog lately, Wendy, and for playing with us at The Cafe, too. Take care!
